Kaushik MAJUMDAR

Director General

Dr. Kaushik Majumdar is the Director General of the African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI) based in Benguerir, Morocco.

 

Dr. Majumdar has a Ph.D. in Soil Mineralogy/Soil Chemistry from Rutgers University, U.S.A. His area of expertise is in soil fertility and plant nutrient management. He has over two decades of experience working on plant nutrient stewardship for sustainable smallholder agricultural systems.

 

Prior to joining APNI, Kaushik served as the Vice President, Asia and Africa Programs, of the International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI). In this role, Dr. Majumdar oversaw a team of professionals leading plant nutrient management research and education initiatives with the support of the global fertilizer industry.

 

In his current role, Dr. Majumdar leads a multi-national team of talented plant nutrition scientists to support innovations in plant nutrition through evidence-based practices for a resilient and food-secure Africa. He has contributed to the development of several fertilizer decision support tools, technical bulletins and training aids on sustainable plant nutrient management, and authored over 70 national and international scientific publications. He is a fellow of the Indian Society of Soil Science.
